Reforestation volunteer day – acorn sowing
Join a reforestation action sowing black oak acorns in an area recovering from wildfire in Serra da Estrela. Volunteers help with sowing native species; a shepherd's picnic lunch with farm produce is offered. Meeting point near Senhora da Assedasse; sign-up required in advance.
About the project
Reserva do Vale Velho is an ecological restoration and cultural preservation project on a 100-hectare former farm in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, combining organic farming, rewilding, and archaeology. It is run by a young couple dedicated to reforestation, biodiversity recovery, and safeguarding local heritage and ancestral knowledge.
