Entries open for Beja's international extra virgin olive oil competition, set for Ovibeja 2027
Registration is now open for the 16th International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, which the ACOS farmers' association says is the only one in Portugal with international reach. Individual producers, producer associations, cooperatives and bottling companies, Portuguese and foreign, may enter. Oils are judged by fruitiness: intense green, medium green, light green and ripe, all from the 2026-2027 harvest, plus a category for southern hemisphere oils from the 2025-2026 season. ACOS organises the event, backed by Casa do Azeite, and it forms part of the Ovibeja agricultural fair in Beja from 21 to 25 April.
