Young farmers' association and olive growers' body sign cooperation deal in Beja
AJAP, the young farmers' association, and OLIVUM, which groups olive growers and mills, signed a cooperation protocol in Beja at the close of the 13th OLIVUM Talks. It sets up technical collaboration, with AJAP's technicians supporting OLIVUM members on investment projects and income aid, and aims to promote Portuguese olive growing at home and abroad. OLIVUM represents about 60,000 hectares of olive groves, 23 mills and 70% of national olive oil output. Portugal ranks sixth worldwide among producers and third in Europe, and its exports have passed one billion euros for the first time.
