Algarve railway line goes fully electric this Sunday

Portugal's Algarve railway line begins fully electric operation this Sunday, following a 45-million-euro modernisation led by Infraestruturas de Portugal. The government says the change will bring faster journeys, direct Lagos-Vila Real de Santo António connections without transfers, and an 18% increase in regional service, using trains with greater capacity. Diesel units freed up by electrification will be redirected to the Oeste and Alentejo lines, boosting services there too.
