Algarve2030 opens €20m call for water and sanitation networks

The Algarve2030 Regional Programme has opened applications for a €20 million call to fund water efficiency, supply resilience and sanitation projects in the Algarve, co-financed at 60%. The funding adds to €66 million already committed under the programme. Municipalities, local businesses and water utilities can apply until 3 February, or earlier if funds run out. Priority goes to projects reducing water loss, expanding treated wastewater reuse, tackling saline intrusion and improving drought response. The region's regional development commission notes that 30.2% of distributed water is unbilled, above the 25% national target, while treated wastewater reuse stands at just 3.3%, far below the 2030 goal of 20%.
