Primary school pupils tour organic plant nursery near Mafra on 2 November

Topicsorganic farming

Two farming associations, AJAP (young farmers) and AGROBIO (organic agriculture), took a group of primary school pupils to an organic plant nursery in the Mafra area on 2 November. The visit formed part of National AKIS Day, which celebrates agricultural knowledge and innovation. Children saw plants at different stages of growth and learned how organic production works, why biodiversity matters and how beneficial insects help control pests naturally. AJAP argues that early contact with farming can counter preconceptions and draw young people towards a sector facing a generational renewal challenge.
