AGROBIO – Associação Portuguesa de Agricultura Biológica is a pioneering non-profit organisation founded in 1985 to champion organic farming in Portugal. Under the motto 'Pela Saúde do Homem e da Terra' ('For the Health of Man and the Earth'), it brings together people of all ages and professions who share a concern for food quality, health, the environment and sustainable agricultural practice. The association is affiliated with IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) and is a member of the IFOAM-EU Regional Group.
AGROBIO's work spans several areas: technical assistance to farmers through its 'Bioassistência' service, investment project support, local development initiatives, organic seed provision, and a busy training programme including e-learning courses such as 'Modo de Produção Biológico' and packages for young farmers covering sustainable agriculture and plant protection product application. The association also runs organic markets, publishes the INFOBIO newsletter, and organises major events such as the Seminário da Primavera and the Encontro Nacional de Agricultura e Produção Biológica, gathering researchers, producers and consumers to discuss the present and future of organic agriculture in Portugal.
With a technical team of agronomists, forestry and biology engineers, and dedicated communication, administrative and financial departments, AGROBIO combines grassroots advocacy with professional technical support. Now marking 40 years of activity, the association continues to work towards making organic farming accessible to all, framing health, environmental sustainability and food security as the best legacy to leave to future generations.
Our Goal

Our Wishes
