APA brings recycling roadshow to Portimão for summer finale

The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) is closing the summer leg of its national "Vamos Lixar o Lixo" campaign in Portimão, after stops in six districts. A mobile exhibition in a customised lorry offers quizzes, a sustainable consumption simulator, recycled-art workshops and a "wall of excuses" about poor waste habits. The campaign highlights that summer is when Portugal generates the most waste, with over 1.8 million tonnes produced between June and September 2025, including more than 480,000 tonnes in August alone. APA is urging residents and tourists to keep separating waste despite disrupted routines. The campaign runs until the end of 2026.
