Carris adds 29 electric buses to Lisbon fleet

Lisbon's public transport operator Carris presented 29 new fully electric buses, bringing its all-electric fleet to 103 vehicles. The buses, featuring three doors, USB ports and 360-degree cameras replacing mirrors, were unveiled at Terreiro das Missas in Belém. The Lisbon City Council, which owns Carris, says fossil-fuel-powered buses have fallen from 70% of the fleet in 2021 to under 50% now, cutting emissions by about six thousand tonnes of CO2. The council plans to invest nearly 260 million euros in Carris by 2029, aiming to reach zero fossil fuel use in the fleet by 2030.
