CEBAL webinar to present plant-based bioherbicide research

CEBAL, the Alentejo agricultural biotechnology centre, holds the second session of its 'Ciência de Perto' webinar series on 26 June via Zoom, focused on plant-derived bioherbicides as alternatives to synthetic ones. Guest speaker Daniela Duarte, a PhD student at the University of Coimbra, will present two projects: one testing extracts from invasive plants and agri-food waste against urban weeds, and another on conserving endangered Iberian thyme species while exploring their herbicidal potential. The initiative is part of the BIOALENTEC project, funded by ALENTEJO 2030 through the European Regional Development Fund.
