Closed pesticide-mixing systems to be demonstrated live at Companhia das Lezírias in October
Two EU projects, AdvisoryNetPEST and Climate Farm Demo, will hold a field demonstration at Companhia das Lezírias on 23 October 2026 of closed transfer systems for pesticide mixing. These devices move product straight from the container into the sprayer, and trials indicate they cut operator exposure by more than 90% compared with open filling. They also reduce spills and waste, and rinse containers automatically. The systems work only with liquid formulations, and the upfront cost may deter smaller farms, so experts point to financial support as a way to speed adoption. The event is aimed at farmers and advisers, with live equipment, results from CropLife Portugal's Smart Farm and a technical debate.
