Composting project reaches 30 Portuguese schools nationwide

ZERO, SILVEX and Novamont Iberia are running the "Devolver à Terra" project in 30 schools from Faro to Vila Real, teaching pupils and staff to separate and compost canteen and bar bio-waste on site. The initiative, backed by technical and educational support over up to three years, aims to divert organic waste from landfill and move schools towards a "Zero Waste School" model, also tackling disposables and food choices. It complements municipalities' obligations to collect or treat bio-waste locally. Each year, three schools win 1,000 euros to fund their own waste-reduction projects.
