Engineers' association stages two-day conference on storm-damaged forests in Lisbon and Leiria
The southern chapter of Portugal's engineers' association, working with its Centre region, is holding STORMS 2026 on 9 and 10 November. National and international experts, forest owners and decision-makers will discuss preventing storm damage, restoring affected woodland and designing more resilient landscapes. The first day, in Lisbon, is scientific and technical, featuring Sweden's response to storm Gudrun and a round table on rebuilding the landscape after storm Kristin, covering engineering priorities, funding and governance. The second day, in Leiria, is practical: a session on putting the OIGP 2.0 landscape-management concept into practice, Leiria's own case, and a field visit to storm-hit forest.
