AdCL to invest €5.5 million in Lis basin infrastructure

Águas do Centro Litoral will invest €5.5 million to strengthen infrastructure and operational resources in the Lis river basin, aiming to improve the system's resilience during disruptions. Of this, €4.1 million is already contracted, covering pumps, generators, valves, electrical panels and automation systems, according to chairwoman Filipa Alves. The plan follows two incidents: an August 2025 pumping station failure in Monte Real that spilled untreated sewage into the Lis, and power outages caused by storm Kristin in January. AdCL is also monitoring riverbank erosion that increasingly threatens its infrastructure near the river.
