Environment and Energy Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho has signed an order setting priority measures to ease conflict between Iberian wolves and livestock farming. The nature conservation institute, ICNF, has 30 days to present a detailed timetable. The measures include restoring wolf habitat, boosting wild prey, offering technical support to farmers, running pilot projects with detection technology, and opening funding lines for guard dogs and fencing. A map of attacks will pinpoint the worst-hit areas, and ICNF must report to the minister every two months. The government also pointed to the Alcateia 2025-2035 programme and to higher compensation with faster payment.
