Esposende opens new 10-hectare riverside city park

Esposende's Parque da Cidade was inaugurated by Environment and Energy Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho, offering around 10 hectares of public space on the Cávado river's right bank, with cycling and walking paths, leisure areas, a bird observatory and nature facilities. Mayor Carlos Silva explained that a court ruling excluded roughly 7.9 hectares originally planned from the municipality's possession, forcing the project to proceed only on legally secured land, without abandoning the original design. The €4.95 million investment, partly funded through NORTE 2030, is a first phase; the municipality plans a future eastward extension and a possible multi-use facility.
