Faro sets up expert panel to plan public park beside Ribeira das Lavadeiras
Faro city council has formed an advisory commission for Alameda 21, a planned public green and leisure space beside the Ribeira das Lavadeiras stream at Quinta da Penha. The site is currently an orchard and falls under both the national agricultural and ecological reserves because of the watercourse. The commission first met on 8 and 9 October and includes the engineers' and architects' professional bodies, the University of the Algarve, the regional development commission, the environment agency and the nature conservation institute. The council wants input from the earliest stage so the design fits land-use rules and environmental constraints. The park may include facilities for sport and physical activity.
