EU awards Portugal €6.6 million for five LIFE environment and climate projects
The European Commission has selected five Portuguese projects under the LIFE programme's clean energy transition strand, worth about €8.6 million in total, of which €6.6 million comes from EU funds. They cover invasive aquatic plants in the Mondego basin, environmental crime enforcement, wastewater treatment, energy poverty and energy efficiency in social institutions. The largest grant, €1.84 million, goes to a NOVA University of Lisbon-led energy poverty project spanning four countries. Portugal's projects are part of 44 selected across the EU, which together receive over €91 million.
