Fire at Resilei landfill in Maceira mobilises 45 firefighters and 16 vehicles

A fire broke out at the Resilei landfill in the parish of Maceira, in the Leiria district, with the alert raised at 10:22. The district civil protection command says 45 firefighters and 16 vehicles are at the scene, with more reinforcements still on their way. A column of black smoke can be seen from several kilometres away. Resilei is an environmental company that runs the second non-hazardous waste landfill to enter service in Portugal, at Quinta do Banco, where it is headquartered.
