Banco de Portugal staff plant trees to restore storm-hit Vale do Lapedo park
Banco de Portugal governor Álvaro Santos Pereira visited the Parque Verde do Vale do Lapedo, in Santa Eufémia, to sign a cooperation protocol with the local parish union of Santa Eufémia and Boa Vista. The bank will back the park's environmental recovery plan in the Leiria municipality. More than 100 bank employees and board members joined a volunteering day with the Liga para a Protecção da Natureza, Leiria council and a landscape architect. They cleared woody debris, tidied degraded areas and planted native species. The council has already run five crowdfunding campaigns to help offset the damage caused by storm Kristin.
