Green Rail Pass extended to Lisbon and Porto urban trains
Since 27 September, passengers travelling exclusively by train in the Lisbon and Porto metropolitan areas can use only the Passe Ferroviário Verde instead of the Navegante or Andante intermodal passes, halving their monthly cost. The pass is now valid across the national rail network, except for Alfa Pendular and first-class Intercidades services. The government estimates the extension will cost 1.5 million euros annually and says users could save up to 480 euros a year. Since its launch in October 2024, 1.4 million passes have been sold. Infrastructure Minister Miguel Pinto Luz called the move a decisive step for sustainable public transport.
