Topicsprotected area managementmarine ecosystem conservation

A photographic exhibition on the Algarve Reef Marine Natural Park – Pedra do Valado runs at Lagoa's Carlos do Carmo Auditorium from 13 October to 30 November, with free entry. The park protects one of Portugal's largest shallow coastal rocky reefs, along the coast of Albufeira, Lagoa and Silves, which supports rich marine life including commercially important and protected species. The show was produced by the Oceano Azul Foundation with the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR) and the Revive Our Ocean initiative. It presents scientific content on the habitats and species, explains how the protected area came about, and aims to raise awareness among local communities. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 2pm to 5pm.
