Leiria business association calls for revised mobility plan

The Adlei business association has criticised Leiria's draft Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS), currently under public consultation, saying it fails to adequately address extreme weather risks and lacks a prior urban planning framework. It warned that reducing car access or parking in the historic centre should not proceed until adequate public transport alternatives exist, and highlighted concerns about the ageing population, rural parishes and January's Kristin storm damage. Adlei proposed creating a citizen oversight committee and said the plan needs revision before approval. The council presented the plan on 29 July, aiming for implementation by 2035.
