Lipor waste utility returns to profit after two loss-making years

Lipor, the intermunicipal body managing waste for eight Greater Porto municipalities, posted a net profit of €8.5 million in 2025, reversing losses of €2.9 million in 2023 and €4.7 million in 2024. Turnover rose 21.2% to €58.4 million, driven partly by higher packaging-return values and increased shipments to recyclers. EBITDA improved to €14.8 million, though still below 2022 and 2023 levels. Lipor also reached 36% of waste prepared for reuse and recycling, up from the previous year, as it works towards a 61% target by 2030.
