LIPOR is the inter-municipal association responsible for sustainable waste management across the Greater Porto region, operating recycling, composting, organic valorisation, and energy recovery facilities. It also runs an education academy and community sustainability programmes.

LIPOR aims to transform urban waste into new resources through innovative and circular practices, promoting sustainable waste management across the Greater Porto region. It seeks to build a more sustainable future by combining recycling, composting, organic valorisation, energy recovery, and environmental education.
Our Wishes
LIPOR welcomes citizens to become Community Trainers, engage with its sustainability programmes, and participate in community garden, ecological trail, and education initiatives. Partnerships with municipalities, organisations, and individuals committed to circular economy principles are encouraged.

Open Day at Casa do Corim - The Place of Sustainability
Casa do Corim opens its doors on 12 September (2pm–6pm) for an open day featuring an urban market, a repair café, a clothes swap market, outdoor exhibitions on optical illusions and the history of the Cerco do Porto, an embroidery circle, and activities for families. Free admission.


Circular Economy Training in Waste Management
LIPOR is running an e-learning course on the circular economy in waste management, from 14 to 21 September, with a compulsory live session on 17 September (6pm-8pm) and a certificate awarded after the 8 hours.


Seminar “Urban Vegetable Gardens | My Garden in Tomorrow's Climate”
A seminar on urban vegetable gardens resilient to climate change, held on 25 September at Casa do Corim, from 8:45am to 1:00pm. Aimed at gardeners and municipal technicians, it covers crop adaptation, soil health and biodiversity, with specialists and representatives from municipalities.
