Valérius 360

Valérius 360 collects cutting waste, unsold stock and overproduction from fashion brands and manufacturers, and turns it into recycled yarns, jersey fabrics and finished garments. It can produce 6 tonnes of recycled yarn a day. That's industrial scale, working inside mainstream textile manufacturing. The company is based in Barcelos, with its factory in Vila do Conde. Its motto is 'Resourcing the Future'. The problem it takes on is the large amount of textile waste left behind by excessive consumerism, overproduction and clothes being thrown away quickly. Valérius 360 was launched around 2017–2018, as part of the Valérius Group's ten-year strategy to shift towards sustainability. It's closely linked to Valérius Hub, a responsible fashion platform, and together they're set up to help brands that want to reduce their environmental footprint. The idea behind the company comes from nature: a closed loop where nothing is lost and everything is transformed. It intercepts waste at every stage of a garment's life, from production offcuts to end-of-life clothing. The aim is to keep textiles out of landfill and incineration, and so reduce pollution of the air, water and land. There's also an online store. The company appears regularly at industry events and argues for public policies that support the circular economy in textiles and fashion. It has received recognition and funding, including from Portugal's Resilience Fund.
