Madeira opens €1.5 million fund for stone terrace walls

Madeira's regional government has launched a €1.5 million funding call under the PEPAC rural development programme to help farmers build and repair traditional stone walls. The scheme covers 100% of eligible costs, with an average grant of €30,000 per project, and is expected to fund around 50 interventions in 2026. Priority goes to erosion-prevention work on terraces 20-40 metres wide, plots within the Madeira Natural Park, and farms under organic or integrated production schemes. It is the tenth call opened this year under Madeira's PEPAC programme, part of over €10 million in public spending so far.
