Madeira wine harvest processes 515 tonnes of grapes so far

Eight Madeira wine companies have processed 515 tonnes of grapes from 268 growers since the harvest officially began on 24 August, according to the regional agriculture secretariat. Regional secretary Nuno Maciel said the harvest is proceeding as expected, with the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute supporting growers. Most grapes came from Câmara de Lobos, followed by São Vicente, with tinta negra the dominant variety. Producers received about 2.7 million euros in EU POSEI support this year, mostly for ageing. Madeira Wine sales reached roughly 3.1 million litres in 2025, down 2.6% year-on-year, generating around 20.6 million euros.
