Porto upgrades street lighting in three areas for €130,000

Águas e Energia do Porto has completed a €130,000 upgrade of public lighting at Alameda das Antas, Jardim dos Combatentes and Rua Arquiteto Marques da Silva, replacing 79 light points with LED technology across more than 700 metres of street infrastructure. The works also renewed electrical cabling, power equipment and lighting columns, and prepared the network for future remote-management systems. The largest intervention, at Alameda das Antas, cost €75,000 and added 50 new light points near sports facilities. Officials say the changes will cut energy consumption and maintenance costs while improving safety for pedestrians and drivers.
