AdEPorto – Agência de Energia do Porto

AdEPorto is the regional energy agency for the Porto metropolitan area, coordinating European-funded projects and local initiatives on renewable energy, energy efficiency and combating energy poverty.
Founded in 2007, AdEPorto – Agência de Energia do Porto is a private, non-profit association that brings together ten municipalities in the Porto metropolitan area: Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Paredes, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Trofa, Santo Tirso, Valongo and Vila do Conde. Its mission is to promote innovation, best practices and exemplary action by local authorities in the field of sustainable energy.
AdEPorto coordinates and participates in numerous European-funded projects, including COSMIC, ASCEND, RE-ENERGIZE, POWERYOUTH, CLIMATEFIT, PROLIGHT, ATELIER, Porto Energy Hub, SPARCS and the Powering Energy Hub, addressing themes such as clean energy districts, energy poverty, climate resilience financing and youth engagement in the energy transition. It also runs local schemes such as Porto Solar, Porto Solar Metropolitano, renewable energy communities (Comunidades de Energia Renovável), public lighting master plans, and the Energy and Emissions Observatory for the AMP-ND territory.
The agency provides direct support to citizens through the Rede Espaço Energia, offering free home energy diagnostics, efficiency advice and citizen engagement activities, and delivers environmental education and literacy programmes to schools and communities. AdEPorto is a member of Energy Cities, the leading European network of cities committed to the energy transition, and is an official Covenant Supporter of the Covenant of Mayors, assisting signatory municipalities with their sustainable energy and climate action plans.
Through partnerships with municipal governments, foundations such as Fundação Serralves, and other energy agencies, AdEPorto works to make housing more comfortable and energy efficient, reduce energy poverty, and build community resilience across the region it serves.
Our Goal
AdEPorto works to accelerate the energy transition across its ten member municipalities in the Porto metropolitan area, promoting innovation, energy efficiency and good practices among local authorities, businesses and citizens.
Our Wishes
The agency seeks continued collaboration with municipalities, funding bodies and citizens, as well as young people interested in joining European energy-transition programmes such as POWERYOUTH.
