Portugal extends support deadline for bluetongue-hit farmers

Portugal's government has extended eligibility for financial support to sheep farmers affected by bluetongue disease, now covering those who vaccinated their animals by 30 November 2025. The change lets producers who missed the original deadlines still qualify, provided technical requirements are met and vaccinations are logged on the PISA.Net platform. Support remains set at €48 per dead sheep registered in the national animal database (SNIRA), covering deaths from suspected infection up to 16 January 2026. The DGAV will publish a list of eligible farms, followed by a 30-day window for complaints.
