Portuguese survey finds strong green intent but patchy Sistema Volta use

A study by Católica-Lisbon SBE's Observatório da Sociedade Portuguesa finds most Portuguese respondents say environmental impact matters when they consume, with around 80% valuing products that do not harm the environment. Awareness of the Sistema Volta recycling scheme is high, at 82.8%, but regular use lags: 35.5% say they never use it, while 36.4% use it often or always. Researchers note a strong link between past use and intention to keep using it, suggesting habit-building could help close the gap. Women show slightly higher environmental concern and intention to use the system than men.
