Sociedade Ponto Verde launches platform for packaging research funding

Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV) has launched a digital platform to streamline applications for funding of research and development projects on circular economy and packaging waste management. The scheme, open to companies, universities and NGOs based in Portugal or abroad, has already financed 69 innovation projects worth over six million euros. Eligible areas include new sustainable materials, recycling solutions and ecodesign. Over its 30 years, SPV has invested 19.4 million euros in more than 120 R&D projects, which it says is increasingly important as Portugal must reach a 65% selective packaging collection target by 2026.
