Sociedade Ponto Verde series highlights shift to higher-quality recycling

The second episode of a video series marking 30 years of Sociedade Ponto Verde explores how packaging recycling in Portugal has moved from focusing on volume to prioritising quality and circularity. It highlights Sirplaste, the country's oldest plastics recycler, which now produces high-grade recycled material replacing virgin plastic in cosmetics packaging, and Ecoibéria, the only Portuguese PET recycler, which aims to raise the proportion of PET waste converted into new bottles beyond the current 50%. It also mentions a Spanish company's patented technology to delaminate plastic trays for purer recycling.
