Valença invites families to a free night walk among bats, owls and amphibians

Topicsenvironmental literacy

On 31 October, from 7pm, the municipality of Valença is running a roughly three-hour night walk at the Quinta do Mosteiro de Sanfins, aimed at families and people of all ages. Participants will look for bats, frogs, toads, salamanders, moths, owls and spiders, guided by specialists in amphibians, bats and nocturnal birds of prey. The council says many of these species are feared because of myths and superstition, which harms their conservation, and presents the outing as an alternative to Halloween scares. Entry is free but requires advance registration, and walkers should bring a head torch and suitable clothing and footwear.
