Viana do Castelo to trial rotating skips for bulky waste in 16 parishes

Topicswaste collection

From November, Viana do Castelo's municipal services (SMVC) will run a pilot scheme for the controlled disposal of bulky waste, working with 16 parishes and parish unions. Industrial skips will be placed on a rotating basis in restricted-access spaces provided by the local councils, with signs listing which items are accepted. Each skip goes in at 8am on the set day and is collected from 8am the next morning. A representative of the local council will be on site to prevent misuse and the dumping of waste that falls outside the scheme, while SMVC inspectors follow the project. The aim is to make disposal easier and curb illegal dumping in public spaces.
