ZERO calls for rail-only Douro bridge, less station parking

Environmental association ZERO welcomed improvements in the revised high-speed rail project between Porto and Oiã, particularly the underground Santo Ovídio station in Vila Nova de Gaia, which it says favours sustainable mobility and links well with Porto's Metro. However, ZERO opposes including road capacity on the new Douro river crossing, insisting it be exclusively rail-based, and criticises a planned 620-space underground car park at Campanhã station. It calls instead for stronger public transport integration, pedestrian access, cycle parking and shared mobility, warning that the project also shows increased territorial impacts compared with earlier versions.
