José Antunes Esteves worked as a carpenter, gaining the skill and craft he later applied to building stages for Sobe ao Palco, Lda. At Quinta Pedagógica da Caria, he draws on a lifetime of experience in rural work, particularly horticulture and fruit growing. A champion of old fruit varieties, he is always at the forefront of Caria's pruning and grafting work.
