Ocean Azores Foundation is a São Miguel-based nonprofit organization founded by Ali Bullock, dedicated to the protection and promotion of the Azores' unique marine ecosystem. Operating under the motto 'Nine islands, one ocean', the foundation focuses its efforts on safeguarding cetaceans and raising awareness about the importance of ocean conservation in the archipelago. The foundation is closely connected to Ali Bullock's other ventures, including the Solar Branco Eco Estate — a sustainability-focused property on São Miguel — and a gin brand associated with the Gin Library, reportedly the world's largest gin collection. A portion of proceeds from gin sales, specifically €1 per bottle, is donated to support the foundation's marine conservation work. Since its founding, Ocean Azores Foundation has positioned itself as a key advocate for protecting the Azores as one of the most important marine regions in the world, working to combine conservation science with community engagement and eco-tourism. The organization operates with a small team, reflecting its grassroots and founder-driven nature, while leveraging partnerships with local businesses and eco-estates to fund and sustain its mission. Its work sits at the intersection of ecosystem protection, sustainable tourism, and social entrepreneurship, aiming to create lasting positive impact for the ocean surrounding the nine islands of the Azores.
