Intentional communities in Portugal

An intentional community is a group of people who chose each other and wrote down how they will live together. In Portugal that covers a very wide range: Tamera in the Alentejo has been running peace and water research for decades, while Traditional Dream Factory is building a regenerative village around remote work and shared ownership.

The practical questions are the same everywhere (who owns the land, how decisions get made, what happens when someone leaves) and every community answers them differently. Reading the answers is most of the work of choosing one.

Project pages show whether a community takes visitors, volunteers or new members. Start with the project pages here, then look at the ecovillage and cooperatives focuses for the neighbouring models. Dated activities from these projects are listed in our events calendar.
