Servivo

SerVivo is a venue and co-living community in a valley inside the Natural Park of Arrábida, near Palmela, Portugal, about 40 km south of Lisbon. It was founded as a cooperative, Cooperativa SVDH. Its roots go back to 2016, when co-founders Carlos and Margarida first rented the space, wanting to make a place for exchange and community. The project holds space for human development through art, dance, meditation, bodywork and a wide range of transformative practices. It brings together people who believe in living more connected, joyful and love-filled lives. Today eight people make up the co-living team, supported by a changing group of volunteers who help maintain and improve the space. Retreats, therapeutic sessions, workshops and classes run regularly, among them Contact Improvisation, Physical Theatre, Butoh and other somatic and performative arts. The Arrábida Contact Jam and Contact Improvisation classes happen weekly, which opens the space to the wider region. Teachers and facilitators from a range of backgrounds run events across healing, movement and the creative arts. Volunteers and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) team members can live and work on site, giving around seven hours a day to the project in exchange for the experience of community life. The space is a meeting point for people looking for connection with body, creativity, nature and community. It takes in local participants as well as visitors from across Europe and beyond.
