A Eira Cooperativa

A Eira S. Coop. Galega is a social-initiative cooperative based in the Costa da Morte, in Galicia, Spain. It was founded to generate a positive impact on its local community, drawing on education, design and socio-educational programmes as tools for change. The cooperative works across two main areas. One is web design and digital services, helping local businesses reach audiences beyond the region. The other is educational publishing and social intervention projects, including school diaries (axendas escolares) produced entirely in Galician. These diaries come in different formats for different ages and needs: an ECO version for pupils in the first four years of primary school, a PRO version for older primary and secondary pupils that includes a free study-skills course, and an NEE version adapted for pupils with additional educational needs. Teacher diaries are also available, with formats for general use, tutoring and therapeutic pedagogy support. All products include the Galician school calendar and can be personalised. The cooperative also offers a free downloadable school organisation pack with weekly, monthly and annual planners. A Eira describes itself as rooted in the idea of the traditional rural threshing floor (eira): a shared space where a community plays, celebrates, works together and greets its neighbours. By mid-2026 the cooperative counted around 1,000 people in its community of followers and customers.
