Uma Boa Questão

Uma Boa Questão is a cooperative network born from a meeting between the Hip-Hop movement and the solidarity economy, running cultural, social and environmental projects from its base in Caparica. It formalised its legal structure in 2024 and now coordinates initiatives ranging from music workshops to regenerative agriculture events.

Uma Boa Questão is a cooperative (CRL) with its registered office at Quinta da Boa Viagem, Pêra, in Trafaria, near Caparica. The idea began taking shape between 2019 and 2020, out of an unlikely encounter between the Hip-Hop movement and the solidarity economy. Young cultural activists from different parts of Portugal founded it on the conviction that culture, technology and territorial transformation should move together. The cooperative formalised its legal structure in 2024 and built strategic partnerships through 2025. The network describes itself as an integral cooperative, meaning it doesn't limit itself to one branch of activity. It brings together projects in health, education and housing alongside cultural production, positioning itself within Portugal's Rede de Cooperativas Integrais. Among its associated projects are ThEndorSemenT, a technology arm supporting communication and organisation; Genealog, a genealogy and ancestry initiative led by Rómulo Sellani; and Projecto Guarda Gotas, launched on 1 October 2022 to address growing water protection needs. Cultural activity runs through the cooperative's identity: hip-hop battles, concerts and festivals such as Broca Viva and Festival Coopera, where it has run workshops including "Música com as Plantas" and "Rodinha das Rimas", the latter facilitated by Tiago Quintans (TK). The cooperative has also taken part in cycling tours promoting regenerative agriculture and food organisation models such as AMAP/CSA, travelling from Beja towards Mértola. The cooperative accepts donations, issuing tax receipts and an annual transparency report, and offers volunteers an official certificate, insurance and payment in its internal currency, UBQ. It is also seeking partners and ethical investors for pilot projects including a clothing brand, organic olive oil and a cooperative vegetable garden.

Our Goal

Uma Boa Questão works as a multi-territory cooperative network based in Caparica, connecting people through cultural, social, environmental and educational projects. It aims to build cooperative models combining a local currency, time banking, local production and decentralised technology.

Our Wishes

The cooperative is looking for volunteers to help with events, gardens and educational support, donors to fund tools and cultural activities, and partners or ethical investors for pilot projects such as a clothing brand, organic olive oil and a cooperative vegetable garden.
