Pollinator support in Portugal
Portugal has hundreds of native bee species and a beekeeping tradition that mostly counts one of them. Pollinator work here means both: hives that produce, and the wild insects that do the unpaid share of the pollination and get none of the attention.
Quinta Vale da Lama and Herdade Monte Silveira farm with flowering margins and hedgerows. Beesweet produces organic honey in the north. Quercus and LPN, the oldest environmental NGO on the peninsula, work on the policy and monitoring side, and VERDE and Vita Nativa restore the habitat the insects actually need.
