This is the infrastructure layer of a sustainable life: where the power comes from, where the water goes, and how you move between the two. In a country with long summers and shortening rivers, water is the question that keeps returning.
Cleanwatts builds solar energy communities, where neighbours share what a roof generates instead of each buying their own system. Alongside it sit off-grid households, rainwater harvesting, greywater reuse and reed-bed purification, and the drought-adaptation work that the Alentejo in particular has been forced into.
Use the focus filter for water conservation, rainwater harvesting, drought resilience, greywater systems, natural water purification, compost toilets, solar power, wind energy, micro-hydro, battery storage, energy efficiency or low-impact travel. If you run a project in this area, we would rather list it than leave a gap. Dated activities from these projects are listed in our events calendar.
