AJAP head links farming activity to wildfire prevention on TV debate

Firmino Cordeiro, director-general of the Association of Young Farmers of Portugal (AJAP), took part in a debate on Porto Canal's programme "Ordem do Dia" about farmers' role in preventing rural wildfires, alongside Quercus biologist and forestry technician Miguel Ribeiro. Cordeiro argued that agricultural, livestock and forestry activity helps manage landscapes and reduce fuel loads, and called for keeping farmers and forest producers active in rural territories, particularly inland areas, as part of a year-round prevention strategy rather than one limited to high-risk periods.
