Coimbra hosts Europe-China forum on agricultural robotics

The University of Coimbra hosts the second edition of the Europe-China Agricultural Robotics Forum (ECARF 2026) on 25 September, bringing together around a hundred experts, researchers, companies, farmers and policymakers. Held for the first time in Europe after its 2025 debut in Wuxi, China, the event focuses on autonomous systems, intelligent perception and technology transfer in farming, addressing labour shortages through automation. The programme includes a live robot demonstration and the signing of three cooperation agreements, including two between UC and Chinese institute NICECART and one between UK firm Antobot and Spain's New Growing System.
