EU monitors LIFE SOS Pygargus harrier project two years in, with field visit to Castro Verde
The second official monitoring visit of the LIFE SOS Pygargus project, which works to conserve Montagu's harrier populations in Portugal and Spain, took place in Beja on 15 and 16 September, two years after launch. The EU's executive agency CINEA arranged it, with EDIA hosting. Day one covered results and performance indicators for every work package; day two continued the technical review and examined financial execution and administration. Participants then visited Castro Verde, where the LPN showed them its acclimatisation station and one of Portugal's largest harrier colonies in cereal farmland. The conclusions will feed the project's first interim report.
