EU renewables supplied 54% of electricity in Q2 2026

Renewable sources accounted for 54.1% of electricity generated in the EU in the second quarter of 2026, according to Eurostat figures released on Friday, a slight fall from 54.3% a year earlier. Solar power was the largest renewable source, rising to 41.6% of renewable output from 37.0%, ahead of wind (27.7%) and hydro (22.6%). Portugal ranked sixth among member states, with about 83% of its electricity from renewables. Latvia led the EU at 97.7%, followed by Denmark and Croatia, while Slovakia, Czechia and Malta had the lowest shares.
