The Hospital Veterinário Muralha de Évora, backed by agribusiness consultancy CONSULAI, is running the fifth Prémio Inovar na Pecuária Extensiva. The award recognises extensive livestock holdings in Portugal that adopt solutions to produce more sustainably, improve results and protect animal welfare, such as efficient water and energy use or reusing by-products as feed. Entries are judged on environmental sustainability, technological innovation, profitability and animal welfare. Applications are open until 31 January 2027 to individuals, companies and associations farming extensively since at least the 2025 grazing season who have not won before. The winner receives €1,000, entry to the hospital's international conference and a possible magazine feature, with the ceremony on 18 March 2027 in Évora.
